December 2007 Minutes
January19,2008 10 AM
The meeting was called to order at Gate City Lodge with 12 members present.
Motion made and passed to approve the minutes as read.
The treasures report was approved as given.
Motion was made and approved to purchase a 10’ fiber glass stepladder.
There was discussion on welcome signs on either nd of Gary.
There was discussion on association becoming a vehicle for pathfinders to accept land donations.
Motion made and approved to table till next meting.
Motion made and approved to pay the bills.
Motion made and approved to have a bake sale at Gat City Lodge on Saturday, Dec. 15.
Motion made and approved to have an ice fishing tourney on Lake Oliver in February. Will Stone will head up.

November 2007 Minutes
Gary Historical Association
Dec. 8, 2007
The meeting was called to order by Pres. Roger Baer on Nov. 10, 2007 at Gate City Lodge. Thirteen members were present.
Sec report was read and approved with correction of Eldeen Baer was included on the monument and flag pole moving committee.
Treasure reports was read and approved.
One of the railroad building was moved to the Historical park.
Thirteen chairs and 1 table were purchased from Madison Library.
Jim and Kellie Lewis will be added to the cemetery committee.
Motion made, seconded and approved to move the flag pole and monument in the Historical Park to the location suggested by the committee.
Santa and old fashion Christmas at the park on Dec. 9 was discussed and was decided to ask the City of Gary if they would donate the supplies for bags to be handed out to the children by Santa.
Bars would be served at the next music on Nov. 18, 2007
Discussion was held on what to do with the other railroad building as it is too rickety to be moved.
Motion was made, seconded and approved to contact Dave Berkes to offer ideas of making a replica depot out of the wood from the old railroad building.
Motion made, seconded and approved to pay bills.

October 2007 Minutes
Gary Historical Assoc.
Nov 10, 2007
Meeting was called to order on Oct 13, 2007 at the Gate City Lodge with 14 members present.
Sec. report was read approved
Treas. Report was read approved.
Screen door is installed at the information center.
Signs are up at edge of town and 3 mile corner advertising cattle drive and soup day.
3 design samples of sign to be placed at 3 mile corner over the buffalo supper were presented by the committee. The following sample was chosen:

2 display racks were picked up and need to be modified to hold brochures.
The pine tree in front of the log cabin have been moved by Joe Kolbach to his place.
Ellen Schulte, Carolyn, Webber, Jennifer and Rick Kolbech will look over display rack and offer suggestions on use of it.
Mary Nosbush, Ellen Schulte, and Arnold Baer will investigate the moving of the monument and flag pole at the Historical Park so it is not hidden by the pine trees.
It was decided to have soup day be a free will donation. Jennifer Kolbech listed the event on several calendar of events in the surrounding areas.
On Oct 14 one man band will play at band shell and in case of inclement weather to he held at community room. Nov. 18 Dave Sultz will play at fire hall.
Motion made and seconded for Roger and Sharlotte Baer to purchase paper for the newsletter as needed. Motion made and seconded to pay bills
Motion made and seconded to purchase liability insurance from DNL Insurance of Clear Lake
Committee of Jennifer Kolbech-chairman , Fay Stone , Marlene Lien, Ellen Schulte will put together a design and information for a tri-fold color information brochure of Gary.
Carolyn Webber donated a refrigerator which is already installed in the band shell.
It was decided that Dec. 9 would be a better day for Santa and old fashion Christmas as the Historical Park in conjunction with the community club following with more activities.
Next meeting to be held Nov. 10, 2007 at 10:00 at Gate City Lodge.

June, 7, 2007
 
Meeting was called to order by Pres. Roger Baer on May 3, 2007 at the Gary fire hall with 8 members present.
Secretary’s report was read and approved.
Treasure’s report was read and approved.
Motion was made and seconded to pay bill at Gate City Store for breakfast items from pancake feed.
Motion made and seconded to pay for paint to paint 135th celebration signs to put outside of town by Mary Nosbush.
Sales on calendars have picked up with all of the first 100 calendars being sold.
Jeff Nothum will be contacted to do the electric work at the band shell and the jail house.
Mary Nobush will head a flower committee at the park. This is to plant flowers and plants along the creek. Motion made and seconded for Mary to purchase some annual flowers.
Making dummies and mattresses for the jail cells was discussed.
Will and Roger will get some quotes for insurance for the Association.
It was decided to have a open house for the District 61 school on July 2, 2007 at 4:00 with a picture taken of former students at 4:30.
Next meeting set for a combination clean up and meeting at the museum on June 7, 2007 at 6:00.

April 2007 Minutes
Gary Historical Association
May 3, 2007
 Meeting was called to order by Pres. Roger Baer on April 14, 2007 at the Gary fire hall. 7 members present.
Secretary’s report was read and approved as given.
Treasure’s report was read and approved as given.
Microfilm donation plaque has been hung in library. 25 more crock were purchased and were picked up by Roger and Sharolette Baer.
Breakfast at the Lunch Box in Clear Lake in March netted about $450.00 with some expenses to be paid yet.
It was decided to hold off on the postcard project to be used in 2008 as a fund raising project.
Motion made and approved to have Mary Nosbush make signs for the jail house and 135th celebration sign to be hung at the 3 mile corner of Hwy 22.
Motion made and approved to write checks as need for jail house and band shell repairs and supplies.
Discussion held as what to do with old tin ceiling tiles that are in somewhat good shape in the jail house. We will look into maybe selling them and what price we could sell them for.
Jeff Nothem will be contacted to see if he would wire the band shell and the museum .
Report of District School #61 is almost completed.
Fay Stone will head the Old Settlers Picnic.
Allen Woolworth will be a guest speaker on July 2.
Roger Baer and Bernice Jensen will line up the reminiscing speakers for the celebration.

March 2007 Minutes
The Gary Historical Asscn. met on March 17 at the Gary fire hall with 9 members present.
A motion made and passed to approve minutes.
A motion made and passed to approve the treasures report as given.
A motion made and passed to order 25 more crocks with Gary Historical Assocn. on the front.
A motion made and passed to give the $135th committee $800 from the sale of the calendars.
Ottertail will be contacted to see if they will bury wire to museum and band shell.
Whistle house will be measured.
A motion made and passed to put brown steel on roof.
There was discussion on getting railroad buildings moved in soom, redoing the sign at the 3mile corner and plans for the 135th celebration.
Next meeting will be April 14.

February 2007 Minutes
The association met at the fire hall meeting room with nine members present.  The minutes were approved with correction.
Treasurer’s report was approved as given.
Trophy plates and plaque could be gotten from Watertown for $275. or from Van Dykes for $175.  and we would install the plates on the plaque.  Pattie Haas would like to have her sister in law check on prices before we made a decision.
Mary Nosbush, Sharon Stuerman and Fay Stone will pick out pictures for the card packs we will be selling.
Motion made and approved to order 25 commemorative crocks and 36 toothpick holders.
Motion made and approved to have a pancake feed at the fire hall on February 18 with a snow date as Feb. 25.  Menu will be pancakes, French toast, sausage, eggs, coffee and juice.  Serving will be from 9 – 1.
Motion made and approved to have a pancake feed on March 18 at the Lunch Box in Clear Lake with the same menu and serving times. 
There was discussion on having a quilt made.
