A Poem by Edythe Peden Cascini
The Little Town in my Heart
The little town is quiet once more,
Old friends have all come and gone;
Our hearts were joined for a few brief hours
Together through love and song.
If you have never been from a little town
You may not quite understand
just what it is that draws us back
from cities all over the land.
What really counts, it seems to me,
is not just the size of the place
but the people who at some earlier time
all shared the very same space.
Yes, our little town is quiet now
and only memory plays a part;
it's all tucked away, ever safe and secure
that little town in my heart.
